1st day with bike I did the bonehead thing and had a parking lot drop. It dinged up the shifter a little. I bent it back out but I find it cramped to upshift. Didn't concern myself with it before the drop, but after I started dwelling on the ackwardness of the foot position. Can anyone recommend some kind of extension or maybe a completely different shifter all together

what kind of shoes were you wearing when you rode it? also look into adjusting the shifter arm it could be set too low that when you go to shift you have to reach very far down and end up using alot of force when shifting. I have had bikes where the shifter was not right for my riding and it does ruin the whole experience but as long as it is bent back properly Im positive that all you have to do is adjust the angle of the shifter.

what kind of shoes were you wearing when you rode it? also look into adjusting the shifter arm I was wearing thick steel toed boots. Looking into something smaller but still protective. On the plus side I put 60 miles on it today in assorted driving conditions and can see where once I get situated feel wise on the bike I'm going to have a blast with it

i use these shoes, they are awesome. Paid about $70 for them. Comfortable walking around when off the bike, considering all the protection they have in them.
Also as for the shifter, you can take the bolt out and adjust it's angle to suit your foot geometry better.

Thank you for the suggestions. I'll adjust the angle on the shifter. I'm guessing that Will make life easier on my foot and ankle

I have high top riding shoes, they are light, but have armor built into them. Every now and then, while working, I ride with my red wings on, but it's only to get lunch. Some guys on here have installed rear set style controls. I'll have to do some digging for thread.

Good deal, Atleast manufacturers make some things adjustable to accommodate all riders.

I'm glad making the small adjustment help! I would go through the bike and adjust it to your body. like handle bars, the lever positions, suspension preload or sag. Making the bike fit you will make you safer and the ride will be more enjoyable. Thats first thing I do when I get a bike adjust it as best as I can for my body. When riding you want everything to be easy on you that way you can just focus on that apex.

try lowering pegs i have these fitted to my gsr but you will have to mod your own linkage rod longer to lower it below the gear shifter i just got a mate to weld extra to the inner centre of the rod..
Did you adjust the right side peg in relation to the brake?

the back brake was just right lower it to its max..another good reason i changed was i all ways felt my foot was dragging across the rubber stock pegs..now its more Manovarable 25mm does not seam lots but it made a big difference for me my height is 6 feet tall and now i feel less cramped riding..also i cannot remember how much was added and welded to the stock linkage rod..i think it was around 20mm just get your self a straw and cut it use it as a gauge to match your length you need then just add it to stock length centre rod..its tricky but can be done just take your time.. Thank you chipwood67. Good info. It never would have occurred to me to be able to change the foot peg position
