I have looked everywhere and have not been able to find any information on if the 2018 seat will fit the 2015-2016 body style. Does anybody know for sure? I have tried my gsxr 750 seat but it is completely different. I’d love to find just a front seat for my bike and can find them for 2018s but nothing else. Thanks for any help!

I'm rather confident it will NOT fit just from the pictures I've seen and looking at them in person.
There are a few posts/threads on seats for the 15-16, the bottom line is there is limited options. I've looked on eBay and there is some stuff out of Europe but it can get pretty expensive ($500+). There is also some seat cover options as well.

The side view definitely seems to be different so i agree with you. I wish there were more options other than the $400+ Seats from Europe

Both of those are options i would consider, but I’ve also considered buying the 2018 gel seat and swapping the plastic that is under the seat so it would mount up. Im Still not sure i want to take that risk or not yet.

Yeah, what White Wolf posted is certainly an option and there are some of those on eBay as well. It would just require a bit more work. If you didn't want a new cover you could just take off your existing cover and then modify the seat to add some gel or memory foam.

I purchased the 2018 gel seat, i should get it at the start of next week and will let you all know what i find out. It appears to mount the same, it just has some differences in overall shape.

The big problem with the seats is that they use a plastic seat pan. So as you sit on it on a long ride and it's hot outside and the heat from the exh. engine etc. causes the seat pan to buckle. I didn't realize how bad it buckles til last weekend. I went on a ride with some friends in the mtns on sunday and we did about 230 miles, I popped my fuse on my charging port for my phone/gps and i took the seat off to access it and the seat nearly folded in half. It would go back to it's original shape but with little effort it was mush. A good aftermarket seat will have a aluminum seat pan or some type of material that is stronger than plastic.
I still have not been able to bring myself to pay $400 for a seat. I have a upholstery guy that can add a gel insert etc. My only downside to that is if i get it back and don't like the way it feels or looks, I no longer have a stock seat. So my $25 bicycle shorts under my pants do the trick for now.

Yes, bicycle shorts work well, I've used them a few times. I'm considering buying a $75 gel seat topper that's easily removable.

I tried a seat topper off my buddies bike, but the problem i found was in the mountains you are constantly shifting your weight around and sliding on and off the bike around turns it tends to get slippery, and didn't give me much confidence. It may work well if you are just going around town and you are more upright. This was just my opinion and experience.

That’s strange that the plastic is getting that hot, you would think with it not having full fairings that the heat would dissapte to somewhere besides the seat area. My gsxr 750 has plastic seats too, but I never noticed that happening. The gel seat I bought has a plastic base(to my knowledge) so hopefully it’s made of better plastic and that doesn’t happen with this seat, if it even fits. Mrstamp, i see you’re from the lake Norman area! I’m not too far away, I’m about 30 minutes west of Johnson City, Tn. .
